Luxury and unique, maritime-inspired art pieces invite travelers to rest and reflect in the Maritime Suite, one of five magnificent, private guest suites located in the exquisite Avignon Hôtel Particulier, a beautifully restored 19th century mansion in the heart of Avignon’s historic center. Located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, steps from the Palais des Papes, restaurants, markets, and fabulous shopping, this unique, fully renovated property was meticulously decorated with authentic and stylish furnishings, all chosen with care by the current owners, a French interior designer and his partner.

In addition to the 50m2/538 sq ft Maritime Suite, guests will have exclusive access to the Avignon Hôtel Particulier’s private pool, luxurious amenities (including a spa with personalized massage and wellness services), and the 680m2/7319 sq ft mansion with it’s many fascinating rooms, including a sunny breakfast room overlooking the gardens, two comfortable living rooms, and a dense library filled with books on art and décor. Most impressive of all is the private collection of many one-of-a-kind artworks and furnishings, including over 200 original 17th-19th century aquarelle paintings and gravures, all of the city of Avignon – a unique art collection that was once exhibited in the Palais des Papes.

The Avignon Hôtel Particulier boasts a spectacular 2500m2/26,910 sq ft garden (the largest private garden in Avignon), a tranquil haven where every detail has been thoughtfully designed. The manicured garden has been skillfully landscaped with over 100 different varieties of trees and plants. Guests are welcome to make use of the numerous terraces, tables, and spots around the property while unwinding with an aperitif and a board of local cheeses, prepared on-site at the private bar. This unique property is so conducive to indulging in the calming and pleasurable Provençal ambiance, you may never want to leave!

Up two flights of stairs sits the air-conditioned Maritime Suite with a king bed, dramatically framed by an 18th century canopy. An ornate fireplace and ceiling moldings add to the detailed décor. Antique model boats and a collection of orientalist paintings by Cortès and Pascal fill the suite, depicting the tale of an avid traveler – featured in one of the paintings – and his love of the sea. An antechamber offers one of two writing desks in the Maritime Suite, making this luxurious suite an ideal choice for travelers who wish to read and write about their adventures. This side-room is also a delightful space where you can enjoy a morning Nespresso coffee or an evening apèritif. The adjoining bathroom features a walk-in rainshower, soaking tub, sink, and toilet.

The Suite’s flat-screen television, 1000 satellite channels, and high-speed WiFi, allow you to easily reconnect to the outside world, should you wish to do so. The Suite is also equipped with a minibar and Nespresso machine, and stocked with complimentary water, juice, and coffee pods. Breakfast can be made to order (for an additional fee), and an on-site bar offers a full drink menu and light snacks. (The bar is open 7pm-midnight, Wednesday-Saturday from April-October, and every day in July).

Guests of the Avignon Hôtel Particulier are welcome to enjoy free access to the 15m/ 49 ft long heated pool (28º C) and spa which is open 9am-10pm every day (April-October only). Additional wellness services can be reserved for up to two people at a time (for an additional fee) and include massage, chromotherapy, and private access to the sauna and hammam.
